I think this is the no. 1 rule for me. Also, if I don't have time to engage I at least share the post, in the hope someone else has the time to engage with it. Sharing takes virtually no time or effort, add a tag if you can fit it in sort of thing. I try to cheerlead what I love, if we all did that then what goes around comes around would work perfectly.

As an editor, I do end up doing a lot of my engagement in private messages - I try to match this on publication but time doesn't always allow. But we do what we can, and trust even small efforts help a piece on its way.
